The service is designed for Key Stage 2 and above. The minimum age to get the most out of the service is 8 - 9 years. There is no upper limit.

Yes, in a number of ways:

• independent and guided research can be carried out eg: talking to people, further reading etc.
• students collect evidence in their own way - write a comment, record a sound, take a picture.

Yes, students create an online presentation which is published to their teacher. Teachers can review these presentations online and assess them and even share them with other schools where appropriate.

OOKL is designed to support learning before, during and after school. Schools are using the service to create more engaging learning experiences during the visit, to provide collaborative spaces for presentation work and to support more detailed research and offline activities back at school.

There are two things you can do:

1. ask your ICTC Coordinator to contact us and we'll send them more information.
2. find a venue that has ookl handsets and book a session with them.

The service has been designed to work on dedicated handsets which may be available in your ICT label or at a participating cultural venue.

Some cultural venues have tagged their content for use with OOKL. That is, you can visit the venue and use OOKL to learn more about their collections.You can find a list of venues that have tagged their content here. If a venue has not tagged their content then you need to seek their permission to use your handsets in their venue as some have issues around copyright.

Yes! OOKL has been approved by Curriculum Online and Teachers can use E-Learning Credits to purchase the service at cultural venues that have registered as a retailer of OOKL with Curriculum Online. Learn more about ELCs
